Ba cây chụm lại nên hòn núi cao….
It is our pleasure to invite you to be a member of the Vietnamese American NonGovernmental Organization (VA NGO) Network.
In the 1980s, there were several expatriate Vietnamese-lead humanitarian organizations working in Vietnam. Each organization was specialized in one community building aspect such as public health, education, micro loan, caring for orphans, etc…
Everyone of us have reasons to return to Vietnam to work: some of us want to reconnect with our family, others need to reacquaint ourselves to the past, while others want to take part in a healing process in order to teach our children about a place we called home.
Many of us are still struggling to find the answer for the uneven distribution of wealth in the world and in Vietnam.
All of us struggle to juggle tasks, find funding and recruit more volunteers to accomplish what our hearts wish to do while holding down our day jobs in a variety of professions. In spite of the different paths our lives have taken, our hearts are pulled and drawn to Vietnam, regardless of where our physical being might be. The need to know about Vietnam may have started from our curiosity, the same curiosity which haunted us for several decades about the state of Vietnam after the war.
As “one tree will not make a hill” all Vietnamese know that “three trees will make a mountain”. Thus the need to form a national network realized at the first conference in 2004 in Asilomar, California. The Network’s mission is to build a united voice on issues of common interest, and delivering practical benefits to our members through technical and capacity-building assistance.
The guiding principles for this network are: transparency, accountability, effectiveness and sustainability. Our belief is this network will be able to lend you a hand, a partnership and most of all a lasting friendship. Below are some of the benefits which you will enjoy from the network:
We expect that you will give us your support, your contribution and your encouragement as our partnership becomes a viable part of your organization as it does to the network.
To become a member, please visit us at www.va-ngo.org and click on the Membership tab. Be sure to check which membership category applies to you.
We are looking forward to hear from you, let us come and give Vietnam and the world a bit of hope. Come and make a mountain with us, come and share your trials and triumphs as you serve the underserved. Come and grow a tree and provide shade for our children.
